An act to repeal

Section of the Elections Code, relating to elections. elections Elections: voter identification. Existing law prohibits local governments from enacting or enforcing any charter provision, ordinance, or regulation requiring a person to present identification for the purpose of voting or submitting a ballot at any polling place, vote center, or other location where ballots are cast or submitted. This bill would repeal that prohibition. MAJORITY NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

Section of the Elections Code is repealed. <caml:Num>10005.</caml:Num><caml:LawSectionVersion id="id_D29873B5-F7F9-4187-93D8-9AD7C66E03E0"><caml:Content><xhtml:p>A local government shall not enact or enforce any charter provision, ordinance, or regulation requiring a person to present identification for the purpose of voting or submitting a ballot at any polling place, vote center, or other location where ballots are cast or submitted, unless required by state or federal law.

For the purpose of this section, “local government” means any charter or general law city, charter or general law county, or any city and county.</xhtml:p></caml:Content></caml:LawSectionVersion></caml:LawSection>"?>
