l 11 2 t '1 (R-2026-526) RESOLUTION NUMBER R- 31 6845 J UN 2 6 2026D ATE OF FINAL PASSAGE A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO CONFIRMING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF BUILDNG APPEALS AND ADVISORS. RECITALS The Council of the City of San D iego (Council ) adopts this Resol ution based on the fol l owing: A. San D iego Municipal Code

section 1 1 1 .0207 (Municipal Code) establ ished the Board of Buil ding Appeal s and Advisors (Board) to investigate and advise the Buil ding Official on the suitability of any al ternate material , design, or construction method; recommend reasonabl e

interpretations ofthe San D iego Fire Code and the Buil ding, El ectrical , Pl umbing, Mechanical , Residential Buil ding, Green Buil ding, and Existing Buil ding Regul ations of Titl e 24 of the California Code of Regul ations (Buil ding Regul ations), among other matters that may be referred to the Board by the Buil ding Official ; recommend minor deviation from the provisions ofthe San D iego Fire Code and the Buil ding Regul ations under certain circumstances; and conduct public hearings upon the passage of new l egisl ation pertaining to the design and construction of buil ding and provide its recommendations to the Council.

B. The Municipal Code provides that the Board consists of ten members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the Council. The Municipal Code provides that the Mayor shal l appoint at l east two members l icensed by the State of Cal ifornia as Civil Engineers, one of whom is dul y authorized to use the titl e "Structural Engineer," and one member each from the el ectrical and mechanical industries or professions; at l east two members l icensed by the State of Cal ifornia as Fire Protection Engineers; at l east one member l icensed by -PAGE 1 OF 3-

(R-2026-526) the State of Cal ifornia as an Architect; and at l east one member to represent the disabl ed community. C. Members shal l have experience and training in matters of design and construction of buil dings, fire prevention, and fire protection. D . Members serve two-year terms and until a successor is dul y appointed and confirmed. No more than five members may have terms that expire in any year. E.

The Office ofthe City Attorney has drafted this resol ution based on the information provided by City staff, incl uding information provided by affected third parties and verified by City staff, with the understanding that this information is compl ete and accurate.
