(a)

(1) The appointing power shall provide service of the following actions by personal service or by certified mail with return receipt requested or express service carrier as provided in this subdivision: (

A) Notice of disciplinary action. (

B) Notice of rejection during probationary period. (

C) Notice of medical action. (

D) Notice of nonpunitive action. (

E) Notice of career executive assignment termination. (

F) Notice of termination with fault of a limited term, seasonal, or temporary authorization appointment. (

G) Notice of termination of an appointment under the Limited Examination and Appointment Program. (

H) Notice of termination or automatic resignation of a permanent intermittent employee. (

I) Notice of absence without leave resignation or separation pursuant to

Section of the Education Code. (2) (

A) Personal service shall be made in the manner, and is deemed complete, as provided for in

Section 415.10 of the Code of Civil Procedure. (

B) Service by certified mail with return receipt requested shall be made in the manner provided for in

Section of the Code of Civil Procedure and is deemed complete as provided for in subdivision (

a) of

Section of the Code of Civil Procedure. (

C) Service by express service carrier shall be in the manner, and is deemed complete, as provided for in subdivision (

c) of

Section of the Code of Civil Procedure. (

D) The period to respond to any notice of action provided in paragraph (1) shall be extended as provided in

Section of the Code of Civil Procedure. (

b) Service of subpoenas and subpoenas duces tecum shall be made by personal service or by registered mail with return receipt requested as provided in subdivision (a). (

c) Service of all other documents shall be made as prescribed by rule. (

d) Proof of service shall be by affidavit as provided for in Sections 417.10 and 417.40 of, and subdivision (

a) of

Section of, the Code of Civil Procedure.
