Section 985.176, Florida Statutes, is created to 10 read: 11 985.176 AMIkids, Inc.—As authorized by and consistent with 12 funding appropriated in the General Appropriations Act, the 13 department, the Department of Education, and the Department of 14 Children and Families may contract, in accordance with ss. 15 394.457 and 985.644 and the statutes governing the Department of 16 Education and the Department of Children and Families, with 17 AMIkids, Inc., a nonprofit organization exempt from taxation 18 pursuant to s. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, to 19 provide alternatives to institutionalization or commitment for 20 young men and women by providing services, including, but not 21 limited to, education, behavior modification, skills 22 development, mental health, workforce development, family 23 functioning, and advocacy. 24

Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 25
