Date of Hearing: June 30, 2015 Date of Judgment: June 30, 2015 [ 1 ] THE COURT: What is important is that you have agreed and taken responsibility for what happened to this little dog. [ 2 ] I note that your health problems contributed to what happened, and that you are in your 70s now, but it looks to me as if the dog has recovered and up for adoption, or has been adopted, and that things for you have continued to be difficult with your knees, and not being able to walk and get around.

So, it is probably really unlikely you will ever get a dog again, because they -- [ 3 ] THE ACCUSED: No. [ 4 ] THE COURT: -- need exercise and if you are getting older and you cannot do all of that, it is probably best that you do not.

[ 5 ] So, I have heard all the facts, and I am satisfied that I should impose a fine, and the proposed fine by the Crown is $50.

I will give you until the 1st of December 2015 to pay that fine. [ 6 ] I am also going to make an order, pursuant to s. 24(3) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act , that you be prohibited from having any animals for the next 10 years, so it is probably unlikely you would be getting a pet at this stage of your life in any event. [ 7 ] So, if you can go down to the court registry, they will call your name, you need to sign into the fine before you leave the building, all right? [ 8 ] THE ACCUSED: Thank you. [ 9 ] MS.
