Northern Village of Kangirsuk Defendant ______________________________________________________________________ JUDGMENT ______________________________________________________________________ [ 1 ] Mr. Sean Marco Kudluk is requesting in his application that the defendant, Northern Village of Kangirsuk, an amount of $5000 to make reparation for the prejudice that he and his family suffered from the killing of their dog. [ 2 ] The facts occurred on March 21, 2017, in Kangirsuk. The plaintiff’s dog was unleashed and wandering around in the community. A worker for the community killed the dog. [ 3 ] Under

section 2 of the by-law No. 2016-04 of the Northern Village of Kangirsuk, it is not permitted for a dog to circulate within the town limits of Kangirsuk unless secured by a leash. [ 4 ] The plaintiff testified that his dog is usually tied but, that day, the dog untied itself. [ 5 ] At the hearing, the plaintiff was requesting only the amount of $500 to dispose of the dog plus costs. The defendant agreed to pay the amount of $500 plus costs. FOR THESE REASONS, THE COURT: [ 6 ] GRANTS the plaintiff ’s action; [ 7 ] CONDEMNS the defendant to pay to the plaintiff the sum of $500 with interests at the annual rate of 5% and the additional indemnity provided at
