Young Procureur général Projet de loi du gouvernement 1 re lecture 5 juin 2001 2 e lecture 3 e lecture Sanction royale Imprimé par l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario i EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE The purpose of the Bill is to use proceeds of contracts fo r recounting crime to compensate persons who suffer pecuniar y or non-pecuniary losses as a result of designated crimes and to assist victims of crime (section 1 of the Bill). “Contract fo r recounting crime” and “designated crime” are defined for the purpose of the Act (section 2 of the Bill). A “contract fo r recounting crime” includes, for example, a contract to pay a person convicted of a designated crime for the use o f recollections of the convicted person that relate to the crime. Le projet de loi a pour objet d’affecter le produit des contrats d’utilisation du récit d’un acte criminel à l’indemnisation des personnes qui ont subi des pertes pécuniaires ou extrapécuniaires par suite d’actes criminels désignés et à l’aide aux victimes d’actes criminels (article 1 du projet de loi). Les termes «contrat d’utilisation du récit d’un acte criminel» et «acte criminel désigné» sont définis pour l’application de la Loi (article 2 du projet de loi). The Bill amends the Pension Benefits Act to allow up to the entire amount in the account to be tran sferred into a registered retire- ment income fund.
