The Act provides that new or rene wed employment contracts wit h certain employees in the public sector cannot authorize perfor- mance pay or bonuses. The Act applies to the employers listed in section 2. The Ac t does not apply to employees repr esented by bargaining organi- zations listed in section 3. Bryant Projet de loi de député 1 re lecture 25 juin 2001 2 e lecture 3 e lecture Sanction royale Imprimé par l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE The Bill provides that Crown counsel must give victims a reasonable opportunity to have admissible evidence concerning the impact of a crime presented to the court before sentencing. As well, the provision of information to victims concerning the structures and operation of the justice system, victim services, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act , the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act , and this Act are to be made mandatory. As long as the provision of specific information does not prejudice an investigation, victims must be provided with information concerning the offence upon request. Victims have the opportunity to apply to the Office for Victims of Crime for redress of complaints regarding treatment and adherence to victims’ rights legislation. Le projet de loi prévoit que l’avocat-conseil de la Couronne doi t donner aux victimes une occasion raisonnable de présenter a u tribunal, avant le prononcé de la sentence, des éléments de preuves admissi bles concernant les conséquences d’un crime. En outre, il doit être obligatoire d’informer les victimes sur les structures et le fonctionnement du système judiciaire, les services aux victimes, la Loi sur l’accès à l’information et la protection de la vie privée , la Loi sur l’indemnisation des victimes d’actes criminels et la présente loi.
