The Bill sets out installation requirements and requires the detectors to con- form to the standards that are prescribed by the regulations made under the Act. Intentionally disabling a carbon monoxide detec- tor is prohibited. Le projet de loi modifie la Loi de 1992 sur le code du bâtimen t pour obliger les propriétaires d’immeubles d’habitation conte- nant un appareil à combustion ou un garage de stationnement à installer des détecteurs de monox yde de carbone dans ces bâti- ments et à les maintenir en état de fonctionnement. Le projet de loi énonce les exigences en matière d’installation et exige que les détecteurs soient conforme s aux normes prescrites par les règlements pris en vertu de la Lo i. The Act does not apply in a municipality where a police force does not charge any fee for releasing a criminal record check for a volunteer. Le projet de loi édicte une nouve lle loi à l’égard des vérifica- tions du casier judiciaire des bé névoles. La Loi ne s’applique pas dans une municipalité où un corps de police ne demande aucuns frais pour communiquer une telle vérification. An organization that retains the services of a volunteer is pro- hibited from requiring a criminal record check for the volunteer, as a condition for the volunteer’s starting work with the organi- zation, if the organization receives a criminal record check fo r the volunteer that is dated within the year before the day o n which the volunteer starts work with the organization and that is the most recent criminal record check that the volunteer has obtained. The criminal record check must meet the authenticity requirements s pecified by the regulations made under the Act. The organization can also require the volunteer to provide notice of all pending criminal proceedings and the final disposition o f those proceedings. The purpose of the provisions being restored is to prevent a n employer from replacing striking or locked-out employees with replacement workers. The Act is also amended to give priority in external appointment processes to persons released from the Canadian Forces for medical reasons, persons who are in receipt of a pension by reason of war service and veterans or survivors of veter ans. Related amendments are made.
