The Bill amends the Taxation Act, 2007 to implement a 2010 Budget measure concerning a Northern Ontario energy credit. Individuals are eligi- ble to receive the credit if they have a principal residence in Northern Ontario and pay munici pal tax, rent or certain othe r amounts in respect of that residence. Individuals are also eligi- ble to receive the credit if they live on a reserve in Northern Ontario and pay for energy costs in respect of their principal residence.
